The centrepiece of the Primal Energy collection, Neon Rex reimagines the world’s most iconic prehistoric predator through fluorescent colour, layered texture and powerful contemporary mark-making.

The Tyrannosaurus rex emerges from a chaotic surface of vivid pink, electric blue, acid green, yellow and orange. Strong black outlines define the skull, teeth and muscular form, while expressive drips, spray-painted textures and spontaneous hand-drawn marks create movement throughout the composition.

Rather than presenting the dinosaur as a traditional illustration, Martin Brennan combines carefully controlled structure with instinctive creative energy. Sections of the original underpainting remain visible beneath the finished subject, giving the artwork depth and allowing the raw process behind the piece to become part of its final character.

The fluorescent palette gives Neon Rex an illuminated, almost electric presence. Its colours shift and intensify under different lighting conditions, revealing new details and textures as the viewer moves around the artwork. The scale of the piece gives the dinosaur a commanding physical presence, making it a natural focal point within a contemporary interior.

Painted entirely by hand in Martin’s Birmingham studio, every brushstroke, splash and imperfection contributes to the individuality of this unique original.
