Dilophosaurus

A striking Dilophosaurus explodes across the canvas in fluorescent green, vivid pink, yellow and electric blue in this original artwork from the Primal Energy collection.

Its distinctive double crest and dramatic neck frill are defined with strong black outlines, creating a powerful focal point against layers of expressive colour. Spray-painted textures, energetic drips, spontaneous lines and exposed fragments of the chaotic underpainting give the piece movement and depth.

The familiar prehistoric subject is reimagined through Martin Brennan’s bold contemporary style. Carefully controlled drawing sits alongside instinctive mark-making, balancing recognisable detail with raw creative energy. The intense fluorescent palette changes under different lighting conditions, revealing new textures and colour relationships as the viewer moves around the artwork.

Painted entirely by hand in Martin’s Birmingham studio, every brushstroke, splash and imperfection contributes to the individuality of the finished piece. Bold, playful and impossible to ignore, Dilophosaurus is designed as a statement artwork for a modern interior.
